It's not as unforgiving as some other games, but the effects of crashing out of a race are bad enough to compel you to pay attention. You need to have your senses about you for every moment of a race - even a momentary lapse in concentration is fatal. The game has a more punishing nature than earlier entries as a result of this change. Dirt Rally changes all of this, and forsakes the showmanship of previous entries for a stab at realism.

Since the legendary Network Q RAC Rally game that came out in 1996 I was always fascinated with Rally Games. The Dirt series has been synonymous with off-road racing thrills and over the years it has veered towards arcade style play and stunts with a sense of polish and pizzazz resembling energy drink commercials rather than serious racing. So, since I got a Quest 2 I tried getting it to look and feel as good as possible on my mid-range PC: i5-10600kf 16GB DDR3600mhz, RTX 2070. Here's what I've found to work best with the Quest 2. If you're debating, the Quest 2 is the clearly the best all-round VR headset available. But if you're strictly into Sim-racing I suggest the Rift S (low-end hardware) or the HTC Reverb G2 (high-end hardware).

I use: 72hz, 1.3, 4848x2448, basically turn this up as much as you can depending on your GPU! But feel free to experiment what works best for you. >I can only see/feel the difference between 72/90hz when I specifically compare and look for it. But that's just me, if you need 90hz just lower your resolution or buy better hardware In normal gameplay I don't see any difference.

Encode Resolution: 0 (since oculus software v23 default uses native res of Quest 2) Distortion Curvature: LOW (should improve visuals in the center of your view) Asynchronous Spacewarp (ASW): disabled (The problem with ASW in sims, when it suddenly kicks in, you instantly gain around 10-20ms input latency which almost always throws me off track, I rather take a quick stutter but stay on track) >If I want MSAA 4x I need to lower render resolution to around ~1.1-1.2. (this is dependent on your USB 3 connection.

So, whether you’re playing our games, or contributing to them in any way: Thank you. There’s a whole heap of news, big event recaps, and glimpses into what we’re working on right now. Plus, stick around to the end for something special, that might just keep the youngsters occupied whilst staying at home! Let’s go: GRID The result of all that awesomeness is an absolutely stacked Racing Line – our fortnightly round-up of all the Codemasters headlines.

Since the last Racing Line, we’ve discovered just how good of an ear the GRID fans have. Last week, we posted numerous clips posing just one question: Can you name the car and track from just the sound alone? Sure, there was a video to go along with each roaring engine but the heavy blur would have taken out a lot of the guesswork.

Without fail, at least one person managed to guess both the car and the track on each of the seven clips we posted in the week. In fact, we liked the ‘Sound of the GRID’ challenge so much that we decided to take it one step further…Ĭoming in April, GRID Season 3.
